An antique late George III period ebonized bracket clock by Grimalde and Johnson, strand. This attractive clock of small proportions, has a moulded arch top with three brass edged rectangular panels and a brass carrying handle.

The sides have pierced sound frets and the front door inlaid with brass stringing. The original painted dial is signed in florid script "Grimalde and Johnson Strand London."
The movement with anchor escapement has a backplate with an engraved border. It is of week duration and strikes the hours on a single bell. The clock has a good quality split pendulum with central rating nut. The clock is raised on shaped brass bracket feet.

Grimalde and Johnson were established from 1809-1828 in the strand, London. They were also known to have made chronometers.
